Jurgen Klopp responds to Joe Gomez injury setback in training

Joe Gomez has not suffered another injury setback confirms Klopp.

The Reds defender who suffered a knee injury back in October was available for Liverpool’s pre-season training in Austria.

Even his centre-back partner Virgil Van Dijk is also back for pre-season training and it would be a huge boost for Klopp ahead of the new season.

With the addition of Ibrahim Konate in the summer, Liverpool’s defence looks in great shape at the moment.

Klopp dismissed reports suggesting Joe Gomez suffered another injury in training.

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website: ‘Not at all. No setbacks at all. Not for Joe, nothing – he’s trained completely normal.

‘That’s the thing, these boys are not injured anymore, they are just not at 100 per cent yet. There are usually setbacks but so far there were no setbacks with Joe and Virgil and nobody [else] – they are all fine.

‘What they had to do they did, no reaction with the knee, nothing, all fine. The world wide web had obviously too much time.’
