Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has praised Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola ahead of today’s clash at Anfield. The much anticipated match between Liverpool and Manchester City is just hours away from now.
Liverpool and Manchester City are the top two in the Premier League table currently. Both teams have 19 points but City have a much superior goal difference.
Hence, the winner of today’s match will occupy top spot in the Premier League table. So far, both teams are yet to lose a match in the Premier League.
Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have faced one another from their Bundesliga days when Klopp used to be the manager of Borussia Dortmund and Guardiola used to manage Bayern Munich.
Klopp showered praised on his counterpart by calling him the best manager in the world. The German said, “He is the best manager in the world. No doubt about that. People said he has always had better teams than I had but I would not even compare myself with him. I see his teams playing and I know that is really exceptional.
I see what he did in different teams. The target for us is to come closer. But what he has been doing since he started his career as a manager, I never heard of something similar. But still, doing the right things consistently is quality.”
Jurgen Klopp also spoke about the possible return of Kevin de Bruyne. The Belgian midfield magician was expected to return to action next month but Guardiola hinted that he could play today.
When asked if he would welcome De Bruyne’s return, Klopp replied, “Absolutely, 100 per cent. I really like him as a player. We want to beat City but you want to beat the best City and Kevin De Bruyne for sure is part of the best City team. Kevin is 26, so there is a lot more to come and he is an outstanding nice fellow.”
Whether De Bruyne plays or not, there is no denying that today’s match will be a thrilling prospect.
