According to reports, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants to fortify Liverpool’s defence during the summer transfer window. Klopp wanted to bring in some reinforcements during January but couldn’t do so. All of Liverpool’s business during the January transfer window saw players being transferred to other clubs. Dominic Solanke joined Bournemouth while Nathaniel Clyne joined Bournemouth on loan.
The decision to loan Clyne hasn’t gone down well with Liverpool’s premier right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold out injured. This has resulted in James Milner playing in the right-back position. Even skipper Jordan Henderson played as a right-back in one match.
In central defence, Joe Gomez will be out for a while Dejan Lovren is also not in the best of fitness right now. Virgil van Dijk played Monday’s match against West Ham despite having an illness earlier.
The Sun reports that Klopp wants to bring in a central defender so as to add suitable cover for Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
Currently, Liverpool are second in the Premier League table but can go up to 1st provided they defeat Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday.
