Klopp explains snow controversy of the Leicester City game

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp explained the controversy regarding snow that was on the field of play when the Reds took on Leicester City this past Wednesday.

Liverpool managed to draw against the Foxes that night, and failed to take advantage of Manchester City losing to Newcastle a night before.

Sadio Mane had given them an ideal start with a early goal, but with the help of some gracious refereeing, Leicester were able to hold out for a draw. Harry Maguire scored the equaliser for them.

During the half-time of this contest, the Liverpool groundsmen only cleared the snow of one half of the field – the half in which they were supposed after the break.

General football fans criticised Klopp of playing dirty and doing wrong things to win football matches.

However, the German explained the situation and insisted it was nothing to do with playing dirty:

Speaking to the media, Klopp said: “Everybody saw when we were warming up it started snowing,” he said.

“The pitch was okay when we went in then when we came back in it was full of wet snow.

“It was difficult.

“There was not enough man power to clear all the pitch.”

Liverpool are currently five points clear at the top of the table, with a crunch game against West Ham at the London stadium awaiting this Monday night.
