Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised his side’s performance against Watford. The Reds bounced back to winning way at Anfield as they thrashed the Hornets 5-0. It took just 9 minutes for Sadio Mane to give Liverpool the lead before doubling it in the 20th minute. Then, Divock Origi who was starting ahead of Roberto Firmino, scored his third goal of the season to give Liverpool the lead in the 66th minute.

Within three minutes, Virgil van Dijk scored twice to make it 5-0 for the Reds. This was the Dutchman’s first brace in England and the first brace of his career since November 2014 when he scored for Celtic against Heart of Midlothian.

The win was a very important one for Liverpool as it also showed that they are far from choking because of the title pressure.

Following the match, Klopp said, “It was exactly the game we wanted. In a game when you win 5-0 and everybody performs on a really high level, and still you have to say both your centre-halves had an outstanding defensive game, the goalkeeper had to make two outstanding saves, then you see the quality of the opponent. All the rest in the game was exceptional.

The crosses were the most obvious thing because they were really brilliant [but also] the positioning in the box, heading, the runs, the direction, the desire, the composure. I’m really happy for the boys because they deserve it so much. We draw against Bayern and United and everybody talks about things I don’t understand.

We want to play like this every day. That is sometimes possible, sometimes not, but you have to be stable and the boys were always stable and really fluent offensively. It is a good example of how football should look. Let’s try to do it again and again.”

Liverpool remain on top spot in the league table following last night’s win. They next play Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
