Klopp - Matip has a 'wandering' injury

Jurgen Klopp has talked about the mysterious Joel Matip injury.

Klopp said: “It’s like a ‘wandering’ injury.

“He had a problem with his ankle, but could play on. He then got a back problem.

“Everybody knows he was limping from time to time and then he got a back problem (because of it).

“We worked on that, on both (injuries), and now he has an adductor (injury).”

And speaking to liverpoolfc.com, Klopp added: “We will see. I hope it’s not too serious but of course, three days until Newcastle is close.

“He was pretty good (against West Brom) and it would have been nice if he could play on.”

On Matip being forced to leave the field during the second half against West Brom, Klopp said in his post-match press conference: “Joel told me he felt something in his abductor and that’s obviously not too good.

“Not sure how serious it is now, but it was serious enough that he had to leave the pitch. The rest of the information I will get tomorrow.

“That’s not the first time a centre-half is injured, so of course it’s not good especially now when he was in really good shape again.
