Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that he is not thinking about Lionel Messi at the moment. The Reds booked their place in the Champions League semi-finals by thrashing Porto 4-1 to win 6-1 on aggregate.

In the semi-finals, Liverpool take on tournament favorites Barcelona. Barca reached their first Champions League semi-final in four years after beating Manchester United 4-0 on aggregate.

Like any other season, Lionel Messi has been Barcelona’s main man this season too. The Argentine forward has netted 45 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions. He has also provided 21 assists this season so far.

Speaking about Messi, Klopp said, “Thank God I don’t have to think about that and I have a few more nights. Everybody tried it so far and nobody can do it, but we’re looking forward to it. So many jobs to do before we meet Barcelona. We will see.”

We play against Barcelona, I don’t think too much about it but I’m really happy about the fact we play them. We’ll find things we think we could use but on the other hand I don’t care. We’re in the semi-final, on Sunday we play against Cardiff [City], that’s in my mind when I wake up tomorrow morning.

We can watch so many teams who tried it already, maybe we’ll find something but I’m looking forward to it, just not tonight.”

Liverpool play their next game against Cardiff City.
