Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that the Reds stars are not children anymore. The German gaffer has been far from satisfied with his side’s performance against arch-rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby last night as the match ended in a goalless draw. The loss has also seen them slip in the race for supremacy in the Premier League as Manchester City take the pole position in the league table and Liverpool go down to the second position.

Speaking to the media after the match, Klopp said that the Liverpool players are well aware of their responsibilities and don’t need to be reminded about them. He said, “I don’t think I have to give my players advice because they know it already.”

He added, “We are not little boys anymore, it’s not that we were completely surprised that we can play good football, that we are in the very, very top part of the table. But if you are there, you have to be ready for all the different things that happen. Sometimes we have a lead and everybody says, ‘That’s done’ 20 games before the end of the season – staying calm in these situations was very easy. Then, we have a one-point or two-point [lead] and everybody says, ‘That’s [it] now’. It’s not important.  Beginning of March, who cares? The good thing is we are in that battle, that’s really good news. My feeling is more and more we are really prepared for it, to be honest.”

Klopp concluded, “The only way that you can win something is to stay calm but lively, critical but confident, and in the end believe in your chance.”
