Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said that Liverpool just need to keep rolling instead of following the new year new trends theory.
‘That is exceptional, but we did not think about one year (undefeated), we thought about winning this game, that was the target,’ he told BT Sport 1.
‘The boys were 100 per cent focused, that was the important stuff. In all positions it was exceptional.
‘Our New Year starts at the middle of May – so we have season resolutions, not year resolutions.’
‘I did not see a game against Sheffield United where the opponent controlled the game as we did tonight,’ Klopp added.
‘That was our plan, to make their life as complicated as possible, that is what we did. We scored some exceptional goals and controlled it.
‘How we defended their wings with three players overlapping was really good and cut off a big quality of them, because of that, the game was in complete control, and that is what we wanted.’
