Lijnders: Jota has uncoachable skills

Liverpool coach Pep Lijnders has praised Diogo Jota yet again.

“Diogo, for passionate players, for players who have goals in them, there is always space at Liverpool. [He has] a great desire to learn our game, he will add something,” said the assistant manager.

“I said last week he is at the same level technically as our front three and the one thing I found really difficult to coach is the intuition in the box, being in the right position to score like the pure instinct of a striker – what we want from many players, of course, but especially from our front three.

“He, in 10 or 15 minutes, was three or four times in the position to score, so that’s really something that is good.”

Last week itself, Lijnders had praised Jota for being a pressing monster.

“Diogo, his technical level is the same as our front three,” said Lijnders. “He has future in his feet. He will have a great pathway inside our club.

He is like a pressing monster so he will fit in straight away. “I know him since he was very young. In Portugal they say what a great signing Liverpool have made because they know exactly how he is and what kind of potential he still has.

“We are really happy with him and all the things we heard [about him] are true. He is very professional, very dedicated, passionate and brave player.”
