Darwin Nunez scored the goal against Argentina in the FIFA WC Qualifying round.

Liverpool star Darwin Nunez was taking part in the World Cup 2026 qualifying round where his national side met World Cup winner, Argentina. He got the appreciation from Messi after the game.

Darwin Nunez played an important role in Uruguay’s emphatic win over Argentina in World Cup qualifying. Argentina are the reigning WC winner so it’s a big win for 2-time WC winners.

8-time Ballon d’Or winner has hailed Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez in a recent interview. Uruguay ended Argentina’s unbeaten run when they beat them 2-0 on Friday. Araujo scored the opening goal for Uruguay and then, Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez netted the final one.

While talking to TyC Sports, the Argentina captain himself praised the Uruguayan team for being great at counters. He also took the name of Darwin. He said, “Uruguay are good at rebounding and playing in space on counter attack. They have excellent players for that like Darwin [Núñez]…”

Darwin Nunez has been excellent for Liverpool as well. He has scored seven goals and provided 5 assists for the Reds across all competitions.
