Not many footballers make the mistake of getting on the wrong side of Jurgen Klopp.
The stone cold tactician is usually quiet on the touch lines and does not let his emotions get the better of him. However, Liverpool’s error-prone defender Virgil Van Dijk managed to tick off the angry animal inside him and was later presented with a public bashing from the German head coach.
Van Dijk, was signed from league champions Southampton when the Saints offered £60 million plus VVD for Liverpool’s world class centre back Dejan Lovren.
VVD has made 7 errors since the beginning of last season that has directly led to goals. However, his error last night against Pep’s Manchester City saw the Dutch star pass the ball back to his goalie in an extremely careless effort and Klopp was not happy:
“We win or lose as a team, but Virgil is responsible for his actions. He is not the biggest or the fastest defender so I understand he has to pass the ball back to Adrian who is excellent with his feet.”
“What I do not understand is why he would take so long to do so? Players in this team are getting extremely casual and the fans are not vocal enough which is making the footballers lazier. At this rate, I might have start giving out hugs and high-fives to people who play well and that is all we will be left. I’m sure no one wants that.”
