Liverpool Among Four Clubs To Have Agreed On Paying €80m For Pepe

Nicolas Pepe has a decision to make as four clubs are chasing for his signature this summer.

Liverpool recorded their interest long back for the winger but their casual approach has been overcome by Manchester United, Napoli and Inter Milan.

Pepe just enjoyed a standout season with LOSC Lille in the Ligue 1, scoring 22 goals in all competitions. At first, Arsenal were hoping to sign the Ivory Coast international but they quickly got priced out by Lille.

French news outlet, La Voix du Nord claims that all four teams have agreed on a €80m fee with the Ligue 1 side and are now battling it out amongst themselves. The report claims that Pepe’s agent could decide where ends up, depending on the fee he receives.

The player’s representative is demanding €5m upfront which is way above the average rate. In conclusion, Pepe has played his final game for Lille and we can hope to see him in a new jersey in the 2019/20 season.

Liverpool have so far not made any signings to their senior team, only a Dutch prospect in Sepp van der Berg. Jurgen Klopp has admitted that signing Philippe Coutinho is not a possibility right now even if the Barcelona man has made himself available.

He could look to improve the attacking lineup but there are very less realms where both Mohamed Salah and Nicolas Pepe exist in the same team. The Reds obviously, won’t spend that much money on simply a backup option when they also have Xherdan Shaqiri.
