Victor Osimhen from Napoli is supposedly 100% interested in a transfer with Liverpool this summer. At the end of the season, Liverpool is looking to add a center forward, and Arne Slot is evaluating the market. Darwin Nunez is expected to depart Liverpool following three patchy seasons at Anfield, and Diogo Jota’s future is also uncertain following a spell marred by injuries.
Osimhen has been linked to several forwards, and the Merseysiders are apparently quite interested in him. Because of a release clause in his contract, the Nigerian international can depart Napoli this summer for €75 million (£64.4 million).
Even locking Osimhen in his hotel room was one of the desperate tactics Napoli attempted to keep him from joining Liverpool after winning the fight for his transfer. At the Italian team, Giandomenico Costi collaborated with Cristiano Giuntoli, Napoli’s sporting director, to make that claim.
In an interview two years ago, Costi revealed Osimhen’s relocation to Naples. “Giuntoli’s greatest masterpiece is the signing of Osimhen,” he told Italian publication Tuttosport.
Victor Osimhen Liverpool transfer gets confirmation
When a permanent transfer to one of Europe’s top five clubs fell through, Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan last summer after a fallout in Naples. He is now the top scorer in the Turkish Süper Lig, having scored 29 goals in 34 appearances.
According to Buchi Laba, a Nigerian journalist, Liverpool would 100% make a move to recruit Osimhen this summer. Manchester United, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked to the 26-year-old. The latter have reached personal terms with the player’s representation, according to reports earlier this week.
In January, Osimhen was a target for Liverpool. Liverpool attempted to sign Osimhen while Saudi Arabian teams were interested in Darwin Nunez.
Because Osimhen still had an ongoing loan agreement with Galatasaray, the deal was too convoluted, and the move at the time didn’t work out. However, all sides remain open to reaching a deal in the summer.
For an extended period, Osimhen has been admired by Liverpool. After nearly five years of courtship, the Reds feel that this summer is the ideal time to finally land their guy.
