Harvey Elliot wants to solve his own problems

While there is conjecture on Harvey Elliott’s future in Arne Slot’s squad, Liverpool may be open to letting him go on loan. Mick Brown, a former Man United and Blackburn head scout who is still highly well-connected in the league, told Football Insider exclusively that clubs might look into a short-term contract for Elliott.

Even if the Reds are hesitant to see the 21-year-old depart the team permanently this summer, they still have great expectations for his future. On January 23, Football Insider reported that Elliott will have only two years left on his contract by the summer, meaning that Liverpool will begin contract negotiations.

Even if they want to keep him, the midfield player is expected to request guarantees about his position because he would rather be a consistent member of the starting lineup. This follows Brown’s statement to Play Insider that Elliott wants to leave Liverpool in pursuit of first-team play because he is dissatisfied with his place in the team.

Harvey Elliott could be set for Anfield exit

He has only made one start in the competition this season, though, and Slot has not yet selected him for the starting lineup in a Premier League match. Due to his lack of opportunities, Elliott’s long-term future is still uncertain, as he was linked to a transfer away from Anfield in January.

“To be honest, it is pretty clear—I am not leaving,” he clarified after defeating Lille in January. It’s my club and my team. He went on to say, “We’re doing really well this season, and I’m a huge fan. My buddies have messaged and contacted me regarding a couple topics, but I haven’t really been interested in the talk.

“I need to comprehend the situation, but I have had discussions with the gaffer. We are leading the Premier League and Champions League, and the team is thriving. I would be foolish, honestly, to walk in and say I should be starting. You’re already aware of the answer.
