Liverpool boss warns his side about Atletico Madrid ahead of Champions League clash

Liverpool failed to win any of their last four fixtures against Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has warned Liverpool players against Atletico Madrid ahead of the Champions League fixture. He said Reds will get ‘eaten’ against Atletico Madrid if they don’t play to their best on Tuesday.

Atletico Madrid was the same side that knocked out Liverpool in the Champions League last season. Klopp believes his side may lose again if his players don’t show their best skills at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Klopp said on his war against Diego Simeone’s side, “It is. Atleti are the best of them (those sorts of teams) because they have the best players. If you play Sevilla it was always a similar atmosphere and fight, it’s a proper, proper fight.

“The problem with Atletico is the quality they have and the desire they show. Would it be the style I wanted to play? No. I couldn’t, I’m not the person for it, but we are all different and that is why it is fine. We will face it.

“It is all about winning football games but we played an absolutely exceptional game at home against Atletico. We didn’t forget how bad we were there and I’m pretty sure Diego hasn’t forgotten how good we were at home so I am pretty sure there is a way of causing them problems but you have to play a top-class game and be incredibly brave. If you don’t do that, they eat you.”

Reigning La Liga winners played two matches in Champions League 2021-22 and dropped two points. They recently defeated Milan to earn three points followed by a goalless draw against Porto. Meanwhile, Liverpool won both games to top the group. Liverpool failed to win any of their last four fixtures against Diego Simeone’s side.
