Edwards eyes £100 million deal for Musiala and Kimmich
Liverpool Football Club is getting ready for a summer of big transfer moves, including a potential £100 million agreement with Bayern Munich.
According to Football Insider, the Reds have targeted two key players from the German giants, including prominent playmaker Jamal Musiala.
Musiala, 21, has been making headlines in European football for his exceptional talent. Despite his contract with Bayern expiring in 2026, negotiations for an extension are on hold. Musiala is clearly a desired asset, with other elite clubs, especially Manchester City, expressing interest.
In addition to Musiala, Liverpool is keeping a close watch on his Bayern Munich teammate, Joshua Kimmich. The 29-year-old defensive midfielder has an uncertain future in Germany and could be offered a bargain fee of £25 million.
According to BILD‘s Christian Falk, Edwards will make attempts to sign Kimmich this summer, regardless of who replaces Jurgen Klopp.
Falk told BILD: “As is well known, Jurgen Klopp is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, but it doesn’t change the plans that they want to, at least try to get Kimmich in Liverpool.
“So, they’ll keep going and nothing has changed just because Klopp is moving, Liverpool are very much following Kimmich’s career.”
Liverpool’s sports director, Michael Edwards, famous for his savvy transfer deals, is considering a double move for the Bavarian club. Kimmich, widely recognized as one of Europe’s top holding midfielders, would add significant experience and talent to the Reds’ team.
As Liverpool prepares for a transition period with Jurgen Klopp stepping aside, securing the services of Musiala and Kimmich could mark a significant statement of intent for the club’s future ambitions.
