Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has tipped the Reds to target Fulham’s Antonee Robinson in the upcoming January transfer window.
Jamie Carragher tips Liverpool to land defender who outshone Mo Salah

Carragher’s bold prediction follows Robinson’s standout performance against Liverpool earlier this month, where the USA international left-back outshone none other than Mohamed Salah.
During Fulham’s 2-2 draw at Anfield, Robinson proved to be a thorn in Salah’s side, neutralizing the Egyptian winger’s usual attacking brilliance.
Despite Liverpool dominating large spells of the game, Robinson’s commanding display earned him the Man of the Match award – a testament to his quality and growing reputation.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s recent victory over Tottenham, Carragher was effusive in his praise for the 27-year-old defender.
“He was outstanding [against Liverpool]. He was the best player on the pitch,” Carragher said.
“When you’re going to Anfield and playing against Mohamed Salah – arguably the best player in the Premier League this season – and you come out with a Man of the Match award, it speaks volumes about your ability.”
Carragher went on to predict that Robinson could be high on Liverpool’s shopping list in January, especially as Jurgen Klopp’s side looks to bolster their defensive options.
With Andy Robertson’s recent suspension following a red card against Fulham and the Reds’ aspirations for silverware on multiple fronts, reinforcements in defense seem inevitable.
However, Robinson’s age – he turns 27 this year – might raise questions about Liverpool’s transfer strategy, which has often leaned toward signing younger players with long-term potential.
Bournemouth’s 21-year-old left-back Milos Kerkez, a Hungary international, has also been linked with a move to Anfield.
Kerkez, who was signed by former Cherries sporting director Richard Hughes, offers a different profile and could fit Klopp’s preference for nurturing young talent.
Still, Robinson’s exceptional form this season could make him an attractive short-term solution for a Liverpool side chasing glory both domestically and in Europe.
Whether the Reds opt for Robinson’s experience or Kerkez’s youth, January promises to be a crucial month in shaping their season.
For now, Liverpool fans can only speculate, but if Carragher’s prediction holds, Anfield may soon welcome a defender who has already shown he can handle the Premier League’s brightest stars.
