Virgil van Dijk insists Liverpool’s Champions League triumph is the beginning of a new chapter.

The Reds conquered Europe as they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Champions League final. Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi registered their names on the score sheet as the Merseysiders lifted the title for the sixth time.

Van Dijk probably had the biggest influence among all the players. The Dutch defender single handedly revitalised the Reds defence and also was adjudged the man of the match for his strong performance in the heart of the Liverpool backline.

He said, “This is just the start. It’s not like we’re going away. In July, we start again. Everyone starts even, and we go again.

We’re going to try everything we can to be challenging for the [Premier League] title, challenging for the Champions League, but also for the [domestic] cups.

“We definitely want to have these nights more often, but it’s not easy, and the only thing to do is keep believing, keep working hard, stay humble—and I think we’ll definitely be doing that.”
