Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson Becker conceded that the team fell off after the season restart in July.

“We know that we dropped a little bit, we don’t know why,” Alisson told Sky Sports ahead of Monday’s meeting with Arsenal.

“It wasn’t something we wanted to do but we knew we had to go back to our path if we want to be competitive this season for the title, because I believe this season the level is higher.”

Liverpool put four goals past Leeds United in the season opener before putting Chelsea aside 2-0 last week. They also defeated Lincoln City 7-2 in the Carabao Cup tie midweek to showcase their dominace once again.

Talking about the win at Stamford Bridge, Alisson added “I like the intensity of the game, I like the way we defended also. I what I like was our mentality on that game. I think we are on the right path again.”

Coming off their first Premier League title, Jurgen Klopp’s men are not going to put their foot off the pedal. They are still aiming to retain the title and win more silverware this season with quality additions in Kostas Tsimikas, Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota.

Facing Arsenal will be a real challenge since they suffered back-to-back defeats against them a few months back.
