Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

The Frenchman was earlier linked to fierce rivals Manchester United but the Red Devils has ended their pursuit as Ed Woodward was aiming to land the French winger in a deal of around £60m.

Barcelona reportedly wants £100m for their star who has struggled since his big-money move to Camp Nou in 2017.

Liverpool reportedly made a loan move for Dembele and is also willing to offer a loan fee for him and take care of the winger’s full salary this term.

The Reds made two quick signings last week with the arrival of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich and Diogo Jota from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Klopp said that more signings could follow, admitting: “It’s just about timing.

“Sometimes you buy before you sell, sometimes you sell before you buy. Sometimes different scenarios.

“Sometimes you don’t buy now, but you buy later, and sometimes you earn the money back in different ways.

“We cannot just say: ‘This year we need this and that, and we cannot afford it’ – and I wouldn’t insist on it. But this season we worked constantly on improvement. The window itself leaves the window open.

“I cannot promise we will do something and I wouldn’t, but I cannot say it is 100 per cent sure we don’t do anything. It’s the situation, it is developing a situation so anything could happen.

“If a player comes to me and asks me: ‘Boss, I want to go…’ I don’t expect that, but it can happen – then we have to react.”
