Liverpool Eyeing Up Move For Ibrahim Konate

Liverpool are chasing RB Leipzig’s Ibrahim Konate as per Christian Falk of BILD.

Jurgen Klopp will need to beef up his defensive ranks following two serious injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

Neither of the two might come back to feature at all this season. That could possess a serious threat to their title defence this term even though they are coping pretty well till now.

The loss of Van Dijk is huge for the Reds. He is, after all, their most prominent figure at the back, playing a key role in how Jurgen Klopp’s side operates. Currently, Fabinho and Joel Matip are the lead pairing for Liverpool in the centre-half posts.

Both players are capable of holding down the backline but they lack speed. Konate offers that in plenty. The 21-year-old is breaking out as another exciting talent alongside the already reputed Dayot Upamecano. Konate is physically strong, a brilliant athlete and an aggressive tackler.

Since signing from Ligue 1 side Sochaux, he has already made 84 appearances for Leipzig. He seems to possess all the talents to become a top defender in Europe. He will definitely improve the Liverpool backline if he is signed.

Trouble is, his services won’t come cheap and he is prone to injuries. Konate has already spent a significant period out on the sidelines and have struggled to get a string of games going.
