Liverpool FC Teams Under-21s, Under-19s and Under-18s – Development Squad / Teams
Liverpool’s Under-21s, Under-19s and Under-18s make up the development process for young players at the club.
So who are the stars in their development squad?
The Reds have a total of 44 stars in the Academy. Out of them, 3 are out on loan while the rest 41 are spread in the academy for different teams.
GOALKEEPERS:
Shamal George:
He joined the club in 2009 and used to play for Manor FC before Liverpool. He is a good shot stopper.
Ben Williams:
He has been in the team from the under six age and has gone for England training camps all across different age groups. He is a regular for the under 18s.
Daniel Atherton:
He has been at the club since the under 12 age. He was injured in the beginning of the 2016-17 season but is now a regular in the academy.
Vitezslav Jaros:
He signed for the club in 2017. He started his academy career under the tutelage of iconic Liverpool ex-captain Steven Gerrard.
Kai Mckenzie Lyle:
He is from Barnet and joined the Reds in 2018. He has international caps from Guyana and travelled with the Reds team previously
Ben Winterbottom:
He joined us in the spring of 2019 in March. He is from Blackburn rovers and is a good shot-stopper. .
DEFENDERS:
Ki Jana Hoever:
Klopp said of his display versus Wolves: “He did well. He came on and did well. That’s how it sometimes starts – when you are really needed then it is only about if you are good enough and not how old you are.
The youngster is making great grounds.
Conor Masterson:
He is a commanding centre back. He was a part of the first team in 2016 during a FA Cup match against Exeter City.
George Johnston:
A left footed centre back who has been at the club since the age of 9. He is a committed defender who goes in for every tackle in the game.
Corey Whelan:
A versatile player who can play across multiple positions in the defence. He can play as a centre back but also cover as a right back when his team needs him to.
Adam Lewis:
Another versatile player who usually plays as a left back but due to his close ball control he can also play as a midfielder for the Reds.
Juanma:
He comes from a club with a big reputation for producing youngsters; Barcelona. He joined the Reds in the beginning of the 2016-17 season.
Tom Clayton:
He is with the club from the under nine levels. He is good with the ball at his feet and has a great personality for a player so young.
Rhys Williams:
A strong controlling centre half who made his under 18 display while still in school. He is a part of the FA Cup winning squad in the youth league for Liverpool.
Neco Williams:
A full back who plays on the right and loves to bomb forward and join the attack. His assists and goals have drawn him comparison with TAA.
Morgan Boyes:
Another attacking minded player. He plays at centre back but loves to distribute and charge forward with the ball and can also fit in at left back.
Patrik Raitanen:
A tall, lanky player who plays as a centre back. He joined us in 2017 and was previously with FC Jazz in Finland.
Tony Gallacher:
The left back is greatly loved by the Liverpool faithful after scoring a stunning strike in the under 23 match in a top game against Arsenal.
Jack Walls:
He can play three positions. A centre back, a right back, and on the right wing. Despite back to back injuries he has made a great comeback.
Remi Savage:
A competitive player who joined the Reds as an under 9 player. He can play as a centre back or a left back.
Owen Beck:
Moving from Stoke City, he has a brilliantly talented left foot. He has also played for under 18 and under 17 levels for Wales.
MIDFIELDERS:
Connor Randall:
An academy player who has been at the club from the age of six. He has a great passing range and vision at this young age. He has been out on loan a couple of times.
Isaac Cristie Davies:
He was brought in from Chelsea. An youth player from Chelsea he has a brilliant vision for a pass. Initially he was on trial before making the move permanent.
Bobby Adekanye:
Another youth product who came to Liverpool from the academy of La Masia at Barcelona. To add to his potential he was at Ajax before joining La Masia. He is a winger who can play on either wing.
Liam Cole:
A special young midfielder who broke into the side when he was only 15 years old. After spending most of the time on the sidelines in the 2017-18 season, he signed a new deal with the club in 2018 November.
Abdi Sharif:
A versatile player who can play in three different positions. He can play as a centre back or a right back but primarily opts to play as a central midfielder.
Edvard Tagseth:
He joined the reds in 2017. A hard working enthusiastic player, he was injured for a while in the middle.
Luis Longstaff:
A dynamic winger who joined the Reds in 2015
Elijah Dixon Bonner:
A number 10 player he joined us from Arsenal.
Alex Turner:
A versatile player who can play anywhere across the midfield.
Yasser Larouci:
The dynamic winger joined us from French side Le Havre
Matteo Ritaccio:
An Italian American player he plays in midfield.
Jake Cain:
A midfielder with great creativity and vision
Leighton Clarkson:
A player with a great passing range.
Niall Brookwell:
A player who can play in midfield or centre back
Dal Varesanovic:
He is a creative midfielder who joined us from Bosnia
FORWARDS:
Glen McAuley:
A prolific scorer known for his scoring.
Paul Glatzel:
Another prolific scorer who has played for England and Germany in the youth level
Bobby Duncan:
He joined the Reds in 2018.
Fidel O’Rourke:
A brilliant eye for goal in him
Jack Bearne:
A striker who can play as a number 10 or a winger.
