Liverpool FC Goalkeepers 2020

According to Brazilian publication GeGlobo, Marcelo Pitaluga of Liverpool is expected to return to his boyhood team, Fluminense. After joining the Reds in 2020, the Brazilian goalkeeper later went on loan to Macclesfield, where he helped the team win the Northern Premier League Division One West in 2022-2023. Later loans to Scottish team Livingston F.C. and League of Ireland Premier League tier team St. Patrick’s Athletic F.C. didn’t work out as well.

Alisson Becker, the Reds’ goalkeeper, has been a pillar of the team since signing in 2018. The 32-year-old has been replaced by Caoimhín Kelleher when he has been injured. Given that Giorgi Mamardashvili was just acquired by Liverpool and that VítÄ›zslav JaroÅ¡ is making his Reds debut this season, Pitaluga’s prospects of playing for the team going forward are not very good.

Fluminense set to sign Liverpool goalkeeper

The Portuguese publication UOL claims that Marcelo Pitaluga, the goalkeeper for Liverpool, will be leaving the team permanently in January. According to the report, Fluminense, a Brazilian club, is now in talks to sign the 22-year-old. “Fluminense is negotiating the repatriation of Marcelo Pitaluga, a young goalkeeper who has been on loan from Liverpool for the past two seasons,” UOL disclosed.

“The player, who played for the under-15, under-17, and under-20 teams, underwent a permanent transfer, as curiously disclosed by Tricolor itself, according to the conversations between Brazilians and English.” Pitaluga moved from Fluminense to Liverpool in the summer of 2022, reportedly for an estimated £2 million. He hasn’t played in any competitive games for Liverpool’s first team, though.

For the past three seasons, he has been on loan, most recently to Livingston of the Scottish Championship. However, it is now anticipated that he would relocate permanently, and a reunion with his boyhood club is now possible. Given that the current report did not specify the transfer fee associated with the transaction, it is unclear how much Liverpool will recover from his sale.
