Liverpool have confirmed that highly-rated youth prospect, Calum Scanlon, has put pen to paper on his first professional contract

This information was provided on the club’s official website, and the 17-year-old joined the Premier League team for the first time last year.

Scanlon, an energetic full-back who likes to get forward, joined the Reds from Birmingham City in February of last year.

Following his move from Birmingham City, the youngster has made an immediate impact in the youth divisions.

With players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones flourishing in the first team, we’re reminded of the importance of the Academy in developing some of the best players to grace the Anfield turf throughout the years.

Seeing Scanlon take the next step in his Liverpool career is a tremendous occasion for the child and his family, and we at the Empire of the Kop will be following the fullback’s progress closely.

With Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas establishing high standards in the first team, the prodigy couldn’t have two better models of how he can shape his game to capture Jurgen Klopp’s attention and realise his potential.

He has been a constant for the U18s this season, frequently grabbing the attention as he runs at defenders out wide and throws searching crosses into the box, all while proving to be a strong and solid defender.
