Liverpool may be interested in West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen
The winger has allegedly been under the Reds’ watchful eye for ‘a number of seasons’, and they ‘admire’ him, according to the publication. The allegations follow Al-Ittihad’s aggressive pursuit of Mohamed Salah, a winger for Liverpool, towards the conclusion of the summer transfer season. Even though the Reds rejected a £175 million offer for the Egyptian King, the Saudi club is anticipated to make another push for Salah in the future.
Bowen has emerged as a prominent winger in the Premier League since his January 2020 transfer from Hull City to the Hammers. After one successful season in the EFL Championship, the £21 million price tag seemed high at the time, but the 26-year-old has proven many sceptics wrong over the last two seasons.
Bowen has made 162 appearances for West Ham United, participating in 43 goals and 32 assists. The winger, who scored the game-winning goal in the Conference League final to help the Hammers win their first European trophy, was instrumental in bringing them back into European competition. Bowen has played in four Premier League games this season, contributing one assist and being nominated for August Player of the Month. As a left-footed right winger, Bowen would be a perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp’s tactical system. He possesses many qualities that Klopp values highly, including pace, hard ethic, and a sharp eye for goal. Bowen is also incredibly adaptable, with the ability to play anywhere along the entire front line as well as in the creative midfield areas.
Bowen’s statistics aren’t the most encouraging overall, but his goalscoring statistics are rather encouraging. The two players’ past two seasons’ direct goal involvement statistics show a significant discrepancy between them. Luis Diaz has only scored 10 Premier League goals and assisted 5 during the past two seasons, compared to Bowen’s 21 Premier League goals and 19 assists.
Overall, I believe that if Salah were to go for a substantial sum of money, Liverpool might have better options. It’s crucial to remember that Bowen will be 27 by next summer, which means the Reds would only have a few more of his prime years. I find it difficult to justify the transfer fee West Ham United is going to demand, which is estimated to be between £60 and £70 million. A potential transfer for Bowen is complicated by several various factors, but the Reds appear to be interested.
