Liverpool face competition in a bid to sign Dejan Lovren’s replacement.

The Premier League champions are in the market for a defender to replace Dejan Lovren who joined Zenit St Petersburg last month.

Aissa Mandi, who has only a year left in his contract at Real Betis has been heavily linked with the Reds.

The Algerian international made 29 La Liga appearances for Real Betis this season and has been impressive in all games.

Turkish broadcaster A Spor has reported that Fenerbahce made contact with Mandi’s agent over a potential move, while according to Inside Futebol, Betis still hope to convince their player to sign a new contract.

According to reports, Liverpool had opened up with an offer of £9m which was declined by the Spanish club and they would not accept offers below £10.8m.

Mandi has to battle it out with Joe Gomez and Joel Matip to be the centre-back partner of Virgil Van Dijk but the Algerian would have a better chance of first-team football if he chooses Fenerbahce.
