Liverpool Interested In Aston Villa's John McGinn

John McGinn is on Liverpool’s radar as a Gini Wijnaldum replacement.

The Aston Villa man is expected to strike up a heavy price tag.

He is one of the key members of Dean Smith’s squad at Villa Park. McGinn originally was an attacking midfielder who has adapted to a role of a deep-lying playmaker now. He still plays a more box-to-box role for Villa, posing a serious threat with his runs into the penalty area.

Ginn commands energy and dynamism in midfield but not technical superiority over his counter-parts. Jurgen Klopp is known to be a man who rewards the former two. Wijnaldum played an important role in Liverpool’s trophy wins in the past few seasons. But with him gone, The Reds have been left with a massive gap in midfield.

McGinn came under the spotlight with his performance against England on Friday. His career trajectory has only gone up since he came to England from Hibernian. At 26, he still has a higher ceiling which he can potentially reach with a better team around him.

Is Liverpool that side depends on how much Aston Villa charges for him? If it is anything north of £40m, The Reds should look into alternate options. There are quite a few in the Premier League including Brighton’s Yves Bissouma who plays a more orthodox deep-lying role.
