Musiala already has 17 caps for his country and is expected to go to the World Cup this winter.

Liverpool are interested in signing Bayern Munich teenager Jamal Musiala, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The German is apparently an alternative to Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham. Liverpool’s first priority is the Dortmund midfielder but they have to fight out with top European clubs.

His departure will likely come next year, with Real Madrid and Manchester City also keen.

If the Stuttgart-born youngster is a genuine alternative to the English midfielder for Liverpool, it shows that they mean serious business as the Bayern playmaker would potentially cost a similar amount to Bellingham.

While the Dortmund player is better in terms of ability and debatably potential, the one-time Champions League winners are probably resigned to the fact that they will lose him in 2023.

Musiala is a versatile midfielder who can operate in behind the striker, on either flank or as a No. 8.

Speaking last year, Germany boss and the man who handed the 19-year-old his Bayern debut, Hansi Flick, said: “He has a great eye and feeling for choosing the right spaces. He is very confident on the ball and can play well between the lines.”

Musiala already has 17 caps for his country and is expected to go to the World Cup this winter.

Plettenberg has claimed that the Express‘ report is in fact correct and that Jurgen Klopp is a fan of the player.

Plettenberg wrote on Twitter on Tuesday: “News Musiala: Based on reports from UK: Yes, LFC is interested in Musiala. Like any other top club in the world. But a transfer is no topic at this stage. He doesn’t want to leave Bayern and he is not for sale as mentioned by (Hasan) Salihamidzic at Sky.”
