According to reports, Liverpool are interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Luka Jovic in the summer. Jovic has been in impressive form for Frankfurt this season, scoring 19 goals in 27 appearances. The Serb is currently the top scorer in Bundesliga, scoring 14 goals in 19 appearances so far.
Jovic’s loan spell with Frankfurt comes to an end at the end of this season. Given his prolific performances, Frankfurt will certainly prefer signing him on a permanent basis from Benfica.
However, several clubs have shown interested in Jovic. Earlier, reports claimed that Barcelona and Real Madrid were interested in signing the 21-year old. Now, Liverpool have also joined the race to sign Jovic.
Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Jovic and have reportedly inquired about him.
Liverpool have one of the most lethal attacks in Europe in Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. However, they need some decent backup in the striker department. Daniel Sturrdige and Divock Origi may be on their way out of the club soon and Jovic could be a suitable signing for Liverpool then. Besides, there’s the possibility that Liverpool might lose Mohamed Salah to Juventus. Provided this actually does happen, then having a striker like Jovic would benefit Liverpool immensely.
However, Liverpool will be facing tremendous competition from Barcelona and Real Madrid. While Real have reportedly made a €25 million bid for Jovic, Barcelone seem the favorites to land him in the summer.
