Liverpool have identified Burnley defender James Tarkowski as a solution to their defensive crisis as the Reds want to bring the player on loan for the rest of the season. But Burnley have put a hefty price tag on the player as Jurgen Klopp now needs to shell out in the tune of £50m if he really needs to acquire the service of the player.

Klopp does have a mountain to climb as he is facing a selection headache ahead of the busy schedule. Both Joel Matip and Joe Gomez are recuperating from their injuries and Dejan Lovren has also been ruled out after suffering a hamstring problem.

Klopp is expected to use Fabinho as a makeshift defender when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League this weekend. Liverpool have enquired about the possibility of taking the English international on loan for the remainder of the season.

But Burnley’s exorbitant asking price for the defender could make this deal difficult as the Reds are unlikely to spend that much amount for a short period. The 26 year old English defender has been a regular for Sean Dyche’s side and has featured in 18 matches this term.
