Liverpool set to intensify efforts in pursuit of Juventus winger Federico Chiesa

The transfer market may have closed, but Liverpool might yet land a long-term midfield goal. But there isn’t much more time. Despite only making two acquisitions during the summer transfer window, Gazzetta of Italy reports that Liverpool also entertained the possibility of moving for Adrien Rabiot, a free agent. This information suggests that, despite their minimal efforts, Liverpool may have had a more diverse recruiting approach than previously believed.

Arne Slot, who lost out on Martin Zubimendi, who chose to stay at his boyhood club Real Sociedad, had been hoping to improve his midfield this summer. This has been commonly known. Since his Juventus contract expired at the beginning of July due to his refusal to sign a new agreement, Adrien Rabiot has been free to sign with any club. For their UEFA Nations League matches, the player has since been left off of the French national team.

Liverpool could still sign ‘extraordinary’ Adrien Rabiot

Manchester United, the 29-year-old’s longtime admirer, is said to have backed off from their interest, while L’Equipe speculated about a possible transfer to Liverpool. Although there haven’t been any noteworthy updates on a Premier League transfer since then, other clubs are still showing interest.

Journalist Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport claims that Galatasaray has expressed interest in signing Rabiot. The midfield player hasn’t yet stated whether he would rather relocate to Turkey, though. La Gazzetta dello Sport, meanwhile, revealed that Rabiot declined an AC Milan bid.

Liverpool will need to act quickly if they hope to sign Rabiot. It is still possible for English clubs to register unsigned players until September 13, which is only eight days away.
