According to reports, Goncalo Inacio, a defensive target for Manchester United, is being pursued by Arne Slot’s Liverpool team. Liverpool is moving forward with talks to sign Sporting CP defense star Goncalo Inacio to Anfield before the 2019-20 season, according to a report from Caught Offside. The Manchester United target is currently at the top of the Reds’ wish list as they search for a top-tier center-back.
Sporting CP is rumoured to be open to lowering their expectations, even though the Portuguese international’s contract has a large €60 million release clause that runs until 2027. The Reds have already begun talks with Sporting, and it appears that things have advanced significantly thus far.
Reds clear favourites to sign £51m-rated ace amid van Dijk uncertainty
Inacio seems to be at the top of the list, as CaughtOffside reports that talks are moving forward regarding a possible transfer. Whatever happens with van Dijk, it’s obvious that Liverpool will need a replacement sooner rather than later.
Van Dijk is entering the last 12 months of his contract at Anfield, much like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah. If a new contract isn’t signed between now and June 30, 2025, then van Dijk could leave on a free transfer the following summer.
As they look to bolster their ranks ahead of the 20224–25 campaign, the Reds are pursuing a move for Goncalo Inacio of Sporting.
