This summer, Liverpool has employed a very methodical transfer approach with a distinct goal of strengthening their defensive line. A left-footed center-back from Sporting Lisbon named Goncalo Inacio is apparently the target of the team. He may be the perfect replacement for the reliable Virgil van Dijk. A proactive attitude to their long-term defense preparation appears to be Liverpool’s readiness to make a firm move for Inacio, according to CaughtOffside.
Even though many disagree, it’s only through reflection that you start to understand why there hasn’t been any transfer activity. With just over a week remaining in the summer window, you would think that something, anything, would happen soon.
Liverpool could replace Joe Gomez with Goncalo Inacio
The contract that Inacio has with the Portuguese champions has a £51 million release clause. Given the current state of the window, Sporting might be hesitant to accept a long-term payment plan. The majority of the transfer price could need to be paid in cash to the Reds. Sporting might ask for an even larger amount if payments were made gradually. Whether Inacio switches is a matter for speculation.
Gomez, who was left out of the team to play Ipswich Town last weekend, may have a major impact on the situation. The 6’1 center back’s agent, Miguel Pinho, is reportedly scheduled to meet with Liverpool in an attempt to negotiate a transfer to the Premier League team.
After helping to extend the midfielder’s Manchester United contract until 2027, Pinho who also serves as Bruno Fernandes’ agent is rumored to be in England right now. While Inacio is still in the nation, O Jogo says Liverpool is “expected” to make a bid to his agent.
