Currently, three teams are competing for the services of Bayer Leverkusen defender Florian Wirtz

Fabrizio Romano, a renowned transfer specialist and columnist for CaughtOffside, asserts that at least three of Europe’s top teams, including Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, are interested in signing the youthful German playmaker.

Although Bayer Leverkusen “remains convinced” the 19-year-old will continue with the club for at least one more season, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Real are also thought to be keeping an eye on Wirtz’s situation.

It is not surprising that Florian Wirtz is being pursued by European powerhouses given how well he has performed for the Bundesliga since making his professional debut almost a year ago.

The Pulheim-born midfielder has made close to 100 appearances for Die Werkself and has contributed to 21 goals and 28 assists across all categories. Though no teams have initiated discussions or negotiations as of yet, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Liverpool are all keeping an eye on Wirtz and his development in Germany.

Wirtz is unquestionably on track to surpass Kai Havertz, who signed with Chelsea back in 2020, as Germany’s next breakout star. For clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Liverpool, all of which need to upgrade their midfields, this is an opportunity too good to pass up.
