Liverpool are interested in a move for Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse.
The Saints are enduring a disastrous campaign in the Premier League and are on the verge of getting relegated to the Championship next season.
But club captain James Ward-Prowse has continued to produce consistent performances throughout the season.
He has registered seven goals and two assists already this season and wants a new challenge in the summer.
If Ruben Selles’ side gets demoted from the top-flight, Ward-Prowse is expected to leave the St Mary’s Stadium in the summer.
A number of Premier League clubs have their eye on the talented midfielder and Liverpool has sent scouts to keep an eye on the Englishman.
Manchester United and Newcastle United are also interested in the 28-year-old midfielder who has made 399 appearances for the Saints.
The Saints could demand not more than £40m for the midfielder if they are relegated this season.
The England international is under contract until the summer of 2026 and will celebrate his 20-year anniversary as a Southampton player.
