As deals are explored ahead of the summer transfer season, Liverpool is reportedly considering bids for Athletic Bilbao players Nico Williams and Oihan Sancet

The only player the Reds brought in during the January transfer window was PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo, and with the current lineup struggling, Jurgen Klopp is preparing to bring in some fresh faces over the summer.

The Bilbao combo of Williams and Sancet, who would strengthen the Reds’ forward and midfield departments respectively, were named by the Spanish publication AS as the German’s top objectives.

For Bilbao this season, Williams and Sancet have been the standout players. Bilbao is currently 7th in La Liga, barely past the midway point of the season. From attacking midfield, Sancet, 22, has scored seven league goals for Lehoiak, the highest in the team, while Williams, 20, has three goals and five assists.

Even if Transfermarket values Sancet at €20 million, AS asserts that they are unaware of the price Bilbao would be ready to accept for his sale. Williams, meanwhile, has a €50 million release clause in his contract, which is valid until June 2024.

If the two keep up their strong play for the remainder of the season, other teams besides Liverpool might be interested in signing them.
