Liverpool Might Not Lift Premier League Title, FA Unlikely To Continue Season

Liverpool might not get to lift the Premier League trophy due to the Coronavirus epidemic.

According to the chairman of the FA, Greg Clarke, the 2019/20 domestic campaign might not get completed.

A decision was made on Friday to suspend all games until April 3rd. There is low possibility of controlling the spread by that timeline, which means the season might get further postponed.

Greg Clarke believes it would be impossible to finish the seson without disrupting the footballing calender. The current suspension period is due to give the higher authorities some time to make a decision. However, there is no guarantee that football will resume in England after 3 April.

That is some luck for the Reds faithful. After taking a record 25-point lead, Liverpool were on course to lift their first Premier League title in glorious fashion. It would have ended their 30-year drought of winning the first division trophy, making it their 19th overall title-clinch.

They were only three wins away from being crowned champions of England. They deserve to be handed the trophy even if the remainder of the games don’t get played out. According to the Times, the Premier League will suffer losses of around £750m through missing television revenue.
