Liverpool move in for backup left-back Tsimikas

Liverpool are looking to bring in a cover for Andy Robertson.

Theu signed Robertson initially as a back up to Alberto Moreno. However, Moreno’s frustrating performances covered with mistakes aided by Robertson’s brilliant growth saw him become the first defender.

It led to Robertson becomin the first choice defender and he has not had to look back since. In the last two seasons, the Scottish captain delivered 23 assists and some world class goals. On top of that, what has been more impressive is his brilliant ability to run up and down the pitch all day and defend well.

He eventually forced Moreno to get bored on the bench and leave the club finally. It left Liverpool extremely vulnerable at the back and short-staffed. James Milner was used as his cover for a few matches but Robertson has had to play a lot of football.

It seems Robertson will now get some much needed rotation and rest with Liverpool finally ready to address the issue at left back. They are looking to bring in Kostas Tsimikas for £11.75m from Olympiakos.

The left back will be a perfect back up option for Klopp and will solve a great area of need for the Reds.
