Liverpool optimitic on contract extension of Mohamed Salah

Liverpool are “optimistic” about the chances of Salah signing a new contract at Anfield.

Liverpool is looking to give an extension to Salah’s contract at Anfield. His contract will expire in the summer of 2023 but after his brilliant numbers in season 2021/22, the Reds don’t want to change their attack. The Egypt international has netted 15 goals in 12 appearances across all competitions this season.

Football journalist Fabrizio Romano had something to share on the current situation. He spoke on a recent edition of Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE Podcast (via Empire of the Kop) that Liverpool are “optimistic” about the chances of Salah signing a new contract at Anfield.

He said: “They are negotiating, they are in talks. Liverpool wants to do it as soon as possible, not in April or May, they want to do it in the next weeks or months.”

Salah joined Liverpool in 2017 from AS Roma for a fee of £34m and he is currently valued at £90m by Transfermarkt. The Egyptian has made 215 appearances for the Reds and scored 140 goals including 52 assists. He also won a long-awaited Premier League title for Liverpool in 2020.
