Liverpool planning for RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku in January

Liverpool are planning to sign RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku.

According to Liverpool Echo, Bundesliga man is being considered as a replacement for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian will go for the next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Frenchman is the closest statistical match to Salah this season – and sporting director Michael Edward’s close relationship with Leipzig chiefs makes Liverpool a front-runner in the race of getting his signature at Anfield.

Liverpool have already brokered deals with the Bundesliga club for Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konate in recent years.

The 25-year-old scored 7 goals in 6 Champions League encounters for Leipzig. He also has 6 goals in 14 appearances of Bundesliga 2021/22.
