Liverpool keen on signing Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.
The midfielder was heavily linked with Liverpool during the summer window as Liverpool were planning to solve their midfield issues.
Barella is arguably one of the sought-after midfielders in Europe and was named Serie A midfielder of the year in the 2020/21 and 2022/23 campaigns.
The 26-year-old is under contract with Inter Milan until the summer of 2026 and the club is well-placed to reject any approaches from outside parties.
Inter Milan are keen to tie the midfielder on a long-term contract but nothing has been agreed on yet.
Liverpool, along with Chelsea and Newcastle United remain interested in the midfield talisman who would become a top-class player in the Premier League.
Inter Milan are going through a financial crisis as there’s a loan worth around £240m due in May 2024.
They have absolutely no choice but listen to offers for the Italian midfielder this January transfer window.
Barella has registered 21 goals and 47 assists in over 210 appearances for the Serie A giants.
Adding experienced players like Barella would add depth and quality to Liverpool’s midfielder, if they were to compete with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City this term.
