Liverpool Prepared To Swoop For David Alaba

Liverpool are reportedly pushing for the signing of David Alaba from Bayern Munich.

After various reports indicating that he was close to a free switch to Real, nothing has come to fruition just yet.

That means teams like Liverpool can still negotiate pre-contractual terms with the player. Alaba’s deal is about to run out in Bayern Munich and he has openly expressed his desire to leave after.

The Austrian won’t be moving anywhere this month and will see out his contract with the same professionalism that he has shown over the years. Bayern definitely have players to take up his position since Alphonso Davies’ rise at left-back.

However, losing a prolific talent like him is one they would have liked to have avoided. At 28, Alaba is revered for his wide range of abilities on the pitch. Primarily a left-back, he has been deployed in a more central role under Hansi Flick and helped Bayern to a treble last season.

Alaba would bring strength and a lot of dexterity to that Liverpool backline. With his left-foot and distribution both him and Virgil van Dijk can form a brilliant partnership at the back with Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold covering the flanks.
