Jurgen Klopp backs Luis Diaz to bring goals to Liverpool

Bayern Munich made a formal proposal for forward Luis Diaz, but Liverpool turned it down. Max Eberl, the sport director for Bayern, has been told that the Premier League team has no plans to trade Diaz and will not engage in negotiations for the attacker.

Earlier this summer, Barcelona made a similar bid to Diaz, 28, which the Premier League winners also rejected. Given Diaz’s significant contribution to the team since joining from Porto in 2022, Liverpool is determined that he won’t be sold this summer at whatever price.

The Colombian international became a vital part of Arne Slot’s championship-winning team last season, scoring 22 goals for both club and country.

Liverpool won the league by 10 points thanks to his 13 goals and seven assists. Last summer, Manchester City showed interest in Diaz, who still has two years left on his Anfield contract. He also has admirers in Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool reject Bayern Munich approach for Diaz

Last summer, Manchester City showed interest in Diaz, who still has two years left on his Anfield contract. He also has admirers in Saudi Arabia. At Liverpool earlier this summer, Diaz declared, “I’m very happy at Liverpool—I’ve always said so,” when touring internationally.

“We’re working to set up the ideal situation for ourselves once the transfer market opens. I’ll wait and see what occurs. I’ll be content whether Liverpool offers us a decent extension or if I have to finish my two-year contract. Everything is dependent upon them. I’m here to make a decision and determine what’s best for the future and us.”

Giovanni van Bronckhorst, a former Netherlands international, will join Liverpool as manager Arne Slot’s assistant coach, the club has confirmed. John Heitinga, who departed the Premier League winners to take a position as head coach at Ajax, is replaced by Van Bronckhorst.

Van Bronckhorst, 50, has managed Feyenoord, Rangers, and Besiktas. He was an Arsenal player in the Premier League.
