Sadio Mane is focused on this title race

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is focused on the challenge ahead as the Reds maintained their four-point cushion at the top of the league table with a narrow 4-3 win against Crystal Palace last week.

The Senegalese star has revealed that the professional mentality within the dressing room is allowing the team to block out any external influences and concentrate on their top priority.

He said while being interviewed by LiverpoolFC.com: “We have experience now.

“Of course we are confident if we’re winning – but not too much, we know what can happen. We are still professional footballers and we’re still going to try to take it game by game.

“The season is long and we have many games. Making pressure for ourselves doesn’t help. Why not just try to win games until the end of the season?”

Liverpool’s next league game is on Wednesday night at home against Leicester City. This clash comes after a 11-day gap, in which the Reds made a trip to Dubai for three days to chiefly recharge their batteries for the challenges ahead.

Mane said it was a good opportunity for some players to recover and get over their niggles or something of that sort.

The Senegalese said:”It’s good for us to have a few days off and get a few injured players back, because now there’s quite a lot.

“We still have a strong team. [And] the other players are going to give their best for the team.”

Liverpool may enter the field on Wednesday with their lead trimmed to one point as Manchester City play a day before them at Newcastle United.
