Liverpool pulled of a miracle win in the FA Cup.

They put out their U-23 side in the FA Cup after Klopp publicly announced that he was dropping out his first team and himself from the clash.

It was a young U-23 team who came forward and took over the Shrewsbury team and went on to win 1-0 at Anfield. Their captain for the night, Curtis Jones, was a proud man.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” the Academy graduate told Liverpoolfc.com of the win.

“The boys, the coaches, the staff that have trained all week have been absolutely unbelievable and it’s a proud moment for me to be the youngest player to captain the Reds. I’m happy that we topped it off with a win for our great fans.”

He was also asked how the achievement felt to be Liverpool’s youngest captain in 120 years.

“Special? Wow, I think that’s an understatement! It’s a dream come true. As you can see Trent’s dream is to captain the team, my dream is to captain the team and the rest of the players as well because it’s an unbelievable club. It’s got an unbelievable history, it’s got unbelievable fans and it’s an amazing feeling just to be out there and playing, but to captain the team is just an extra bit special.”
