Liverpool step up their efforts to sign Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon

Liverpool have been given renewed belief in their pursuit of Anthony Gordon.

Liverpool have stepped up their efforts to sign Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon. The Reds are targeting him as the potential replacement of Mo Salah who is heavily linked with Saudi league clubs.

Gordon has established himself as a key figure at the Magpies following his arrival from Everton in the winter of 2023. He scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in 48 competitive appearances to finish the last season.

His performance helped him to earn a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad and caught the attention of Premier League giants Liverpool. The Reds were heavily linked with a move for Gordon.

According to journalist Kevin Palmer, the Reds have been given renewed belief in their pursuit of the Englishman. Club hierarchy have been given encouragement that Gordon is keen to complete the move to Anfield.

The Merseyside club are now looking to submit a fresh proposal which could see them use players as makeweights in a potential deal. Newcastle is reluctant to part ways with Anthony Gordon, especially as the 2023-24 PSR deadline has now passed.
