Liverpool Suffer Another Injury Blow With Diogo Jota

Liverpool’s Diogo Jota could miss two months with injury after his recent test results.

He picked up a knock in the 1-1 Champions League tie against Midtjylland.

At first, it wasn’t thought to be serious but further tests showed that it is. Jota has been in sensational form for Liverpool since arriving from Wolves last summer. Fans were sceptical at first after hearing about his £41 million price tag.

But Jota put all concerns to rest with nine goals in 17 appearances for his new side. He was so hot in front of goal, Jurgen Klopp even started awarding him minutes over Roberto Firmino. The forward is exactly the player Liverpool need to offer some competition to their front three.

Unfortunately, he will be missing through a busy winter period where squad depth is the most necessary. Jurgen Klopp has also lost a raft of players including defensive heads – Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. And without Jota, the Reds will have to manage with Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi as backups.

So far, the Merseyside outfit has done alright as reigning English champions. They are second in the table, level on points with leaders, Tottenham Hotspur. They also topped their Champions League group and are through to the knockout stages.
