Liverpool’s pursuit of Yves Bissouma is going well according to plan.
The Brighton And Hove Albion has enjoyed a prolific season in the Premier League, drawing in both The Reds and Arsenal.
Reports claim that he has handed in a transfer request for the upcoming summer transfer window. His rights are tied to Brighton until June 2023 which gives them enough leverage to squeeze out some value out of his sale.
Liverpool won’t have a clear run at the 24-year-old. There are clubs prepared to pay a premium sum to land Bissouma. Jurgen Klopp is probably viewing him as a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.
While Bissouma did not quite play that exact role at Brighton, he is definitely capable of it. Strong, athletic and technically astute – Bissouma has a polished ability to control a midfield. He can squeeze in and out of tight spots and also dictate play with his dynamic passing range.
Bissouma’s energy and running will also be a major factor in Liverpool pursuing his signature. The question remains on will they be successful. The Reds have notoriously picked up Premier League talents before and won silverware.
Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberain, Virgil van Dijk, Gini Wijnaldum have all played significant roles under Klopp. It is likely that trend will continue in the coming years.
