Thiago Alcantara eyes Barcelona return: Journey back to Camp Nou
Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool’s midfield maestro, is reportedly looking for a return to his former club, Barcelona, next summer. This would be an emotional homecoming for the Italian-born Spanish international, who left the Camp Nou for the first time over a decade ago.
Thiago has been an important player in Liverpool’s tactical shift toward possession-based football under Jurgen Klopp since joining the club in 2020. Though, injuries have hampered his recent performances, and the 32-year-old has failed to get consistent game time.
With his contract set to expire next summer, Thiago is free to begin talks with European clubs in January. The prospect of returning to Barcelona, a club he left in 2013 to follow coach Pep Guardiola to Bayern Munich, is strong for the midfield maestro.
While Liverpool’s summer signings improved their midfield options, losing Thiago would be a big blow. The transfer tale will be closely followed by the football world, with Liverpool fans hopeful that Thiago’s impact at Anfield will last despite the tempting prospect of a return to Catalonia.
